Some unknown assailants have looted a buffer stock warehouse in Tamale, stealing a large amount of food supplies intended for the School Feeding Program.

The incident occurred in the late hours of Friday, January 3.

The assailants went with food items including beans, gallons of oil, corn and mackerel. The warehouse was left empty after their departure.

The culprits are alleged to be party foot soldiers since it happened shortly after the general election with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia conceding defeat.

Following reports of the incidents, a delegation of Senior High School (SHS) headmasters and members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools(CHASS) visited the buffer stock warehouse to assess the damage.

Reports indicate that this is not the first time the warehouse has been ransacked as a similar incident happened on December 8, 2024, where bags of rice and cooking oil were allegedly stolen.

The police have arrested four persons in connection with the recent incident. These suspects are assisting the police with investigations to apprehend the remaining culprits and retrieve the stolen food items.
