The National Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s claim that the economy is in a better state.

During his State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, the President stated that economic indicators show a well-performing economy.

Speaking to Channel One News during a Victory Walk organised by the NDC, the party’s National Youth Organiser George Opare Addo argued that the true state of the economy was reflected in the outcome of the December 7 polls.

“In the last six months, the Ghana Statistical Service tells us that eight million Ghanaians have gone a day without food. This is the true state of the Ghanaian economy. This is the worst economy that any government can leave for any government coming in. When he took over in 2017, the economy was rated as a B+, today it is C-. We’ve been graded as a junk economy.

“If you have all these indicators and you still believe in your own words that you have done well, so be it. But he knows that the verdict Ghanaians passed is the worst electoral defeat any government under the Fourth Republic.

“Clearly, that verdict was passed by Ghanaians so he can tickle himself, deceive himself and tell himself he has done better.  He’s always lived the life of a lie,” he stated.
