The Coalition of Ga-Dangbe has issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding that McDan Aviation resume operations by the close of Sunday, January 5, 2025.
The coalition asserts that the government is behind efforts to shut down MCDan’s aviation business at Kotoka International Airport.
On December 30, 2024, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) shut down the McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal due to an unpaid debt exceeding $3 million. This debt, which includes outstanding payments for land leases, rentals, and terminal charges, remained unresolved despite a Christmas deadline for payment.
However, McDan Aviation later refuted reports that claimed a $3 million debt owed to the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) led to the terminal’s closure.
The company clarified that $2 million of the reported debt is tied to a land purchase from GACL, which is currently under litigation. Fast forward, the Coalition of Ga Dangbe has called on the government to refrain from any actions that would jeopardize McDan Aviation’s operations.
Speaking at a press conference, the convener of the Coalition of Ga Dangbe, Jordan Nii Akron, stressed that the Ga Dangbe community will not tolerate any attempts by the government to undermine the business of Dr Daniel McKorley.
“We are giving the ‘Akyem Egyapadie Mafia-led’ Nana Addo an ultimatum to allow McDan Aviation to resume operation by Sunday 5th January 2025,” he said
The Coalition also issued a firm ultimatum that MCDan Aviation business at Kotoka International Airport must resume operations by Sunday, January 5, or the coalition members will take serious action to ensure its reopening.
