President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his deep sorrow over the devastating fire that ravaged Katamanto market yesterday, January 2 leaving many traders with their livelihoods in ruins.
“I want to put on record that I am deeply saddened by the devastating fire at Katamanto market which took place yesterday and has left many traders with their livelihoods in ruins,” he stated in his last State of the Nation Address in parliament on Friday January 3, 2025.
The President extended his thoughts and prayers to those affected, offering heartfelt sympathy to the hardworking traders who have lost their goods and investments.
“My thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected and I extend heartfelt sympathy to the hardworking traders who have lost their goods and investments,” he said.
In a show of solidarity, President Akufo-Addo assured the traders that the government stands with them and will collaborate with relevant agencies to determine the causes of the fire and provide the necessary support.
“Government stands with you and will work with relevant agencies to ascertain the causes of the fire and to provide the needed support,” he affirmed.
He called on the nation to unite in compassion and solidarity to help those who have suffered losses.
“As a nation let’s unite in compassion and solidarity to help those who have suffered losses. Together we can extend a helping hand to our fellow Ghanaians in need during these challenging times,” the President urged.
