Govt bans drone flights during Mahama’s inauguration

The Ministry of National Security has announced a ban on the use of drones at Black Star Square and its surrounding areas during the inauguration ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025.

In a press release signed by Lily Fati Soale, Acting Chief Director for the Ministry of Information, the government emphasized that the ban applies to both recreational and commercial drones. The measure is being implemented to ensure the safety and security of visiting dignitaries, guests, and the public.

The government reiterated its commitment to providing a secure environment for the event and called on all drone operators to adhere to the restriction. The Ministry also urged stakeholders to respect the directive and fully cooperate to ensure the safety of the inauguration.
