The Koforidua Divisional Police Command is investigating the tragic death of a nine-year-old girl who drowned at the Tonyx Hotel swimming pool in Aberewa Nkwanta, New Juaben South Constituency, Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Sunday while the girl was at the hotel with her father and five siblings. Although she did not participate in swimming, reports suggest she was taking pictures with other children by the poolside.
Tragically, she was found at the bottom of the pool after a search was organized when the family noticed her absence as they prepared to leave.
She was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital, but health professionals pronounced her dead on arrival.
The hotel’s management has pledged to cooperate fully with the police investigation and plans to address the media on the unfortunate incident.
