A group of unidentified men on Sunday, December 29 demolished the private property of the Keta Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) Emmanuel Gemegah at Adzido-Aflasco, near the Emancipation Beach.
This follows unsettled matters regarding the management of the Keta reclaimed lands coupled with an allegation that the MCE has constructed a private residence on a portion of the reclaimed lands meant for a stadium.
The unknown assailants arrived at the site armed on Sunday morning with two bulldozers. The police arrived and intercepted their action. However, the assailants demolished part of the MCE’s building as well as a fence wall belonging to one Rocky Amugi in the area.
Reports indicate that in October 2024, the youth similarly attacked the MCE’s building and wrote ‘Stop Work’ on it. According to them, the MCE was working on land which had been reserved to construct a stadium.
They emphasised that the issue was before the Sogakope High Court but people have defied warnings and continued to work on the lands.
