The Paramount Queen mother of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Akosua Duaa Asor Sika Brayie II, has urged President-elect John Mahama to appoint more women to key roles in his government.
She made this appeal during an appreciation visit by the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah to the Sunyani Traditional Area.
The queen mother stated that an increased women’s representation in government would benefit the country since women are avid about development.
She also admonished President-elect Mahama to serve with high integrity and resist pride.
The NDC National Chairman on his part expressed gratitude to the Sunyani Traditional Council for their support during the electioneering period.
According to Nketiah, securing 27 out of 29 parliamentary seats in Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions was an indication that the residents desired a change in government.
He assured the people of Sunyani Traditional Area of the NDC’s commitment to fulfilling its campaign promises.
Akwamuhene (sub-chief) and the Acting President of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Sabeng applauded the previous Mahama-led administration for the development projects initiated in the Suyani Municipal Area.
