Renal Patients have expressed hope for the continuation of the Free Dialysis Initiative when the Akufo-Addo administration hands over power to the Mahama-led administration.
In an interview with Channel One News, President of the Renal Patients Association, Baffour Kojo Ahenkorah, explained that the association is yet to hold engagements with President-elect John Mahama on the continuation of the policy.
He emphasised renal patients’ hope that the policy will continue since it has officially been included in the National Health Insurance benefits.
“For now, we don’t have any cause for alarm. We just don’t know what is going to happen when the new government takes over. That is why we want to meet them and see the way forward. They have not taken over yet, so we don’t know what they have in place,” he added.
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) announced the nationwide implementation of free dialysis services across accredited health facilities.
This initiative, introduced by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on November 10, seeks to reduce the financial strain on patients needing dialysis treatment.
