The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has firmly stated that all last-minute recruitments, payments, and other actions being carried out by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration will be reversed.
Despite an agreement reached during the second meeting of the Joint Transition Team on December 13, 2024, which required such actions to be cleared with the Joint Transition Team, the Mahama team has made it clear that these actions will not stand.
In a press statement issued on December 17, 2024, the Transition Team stressed that all payments, recruitments, transfers, and promotions, including those that have been backdated, will be reversed once the formal transfer of power occurs. Public officials responsible for these actions will be held accountable.
The team strongly warned public officials against yielding to pressure from outgoing political figures to engage in such activities, emphasizing that such actions could result in severe consequences when the new government assumes office.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team, reiterated the team’s position, calling attention to the bad faith exhibited by the outgoing administration and underscoring the importance of adhering to the agreed protocols during the transition.
