President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a strong caution to individuals aspiring to serve in his incoming administration, urging them to prioritise the public’s welfare above personal interests.
He emphasised that his government would be centered on transparency, service, and the collective good of the nation, warning that those who lack genuine commitment to these ideals need not seek roles in his administration.
Mahama’s statement comes on the heels of his decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election, where he secured 56.55 percent of the total valid votes cast, triumphing over his main opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party, who garnered 41.61 percent.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service held at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra, Mahama reflected on the profound message delivered by the election results.
He described the outcome as a powerful reminder of the sovereignty of the people in determining who governs the nation, underlining that leaders are ultimately accountable to the citizens who entrust them with power.
“People are considering themselves for various positions and I just want to warn them, it is not going to be a walk in the park. If you are not prepared to work and serve the people of Ghana diligently and modestly and with humility, then don’t come. Just stay in your own place.”
