The Ghana Police Service has deployed extra personnel as a measure to deal with the increasing cases of post-electoral violence.

This follows the National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters’ alleged involvement in the ongoing vandalism of state properties in certain parts of the country in the aftermath of the December 7 elections.

More than 100 suspects alleged to be affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been arrested in connection with looting and vandalism at various state institutions following the victory of the NDC in the December 7 elections.

Places such as Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGCL) headquarters in Accra, the Forestry Commission depot in Achimota, Bono Regional Forestry Commission offices as well as the headquarters of Metro Mass Transit Limited were besieged by individuals suspected to be supporters of the NDC.

However, personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces successfully thwarted an attempted takeover of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, has refuted allegations that the party sanctioned its members to attack state facilities and destroy public property.

Speaking on Point Blank, a segment on Eyewitness News, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Pablo categorically dismissed the claims, emphasising the NDC’s commitment to the rule of law and democratic principles.
