Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Nsawam Adoagyiri, has categorically denied allegations of involvement in a shooting incident at the constituency’s collation centre.

The accusation was made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Eastern Regional Chairman, who claimed that Annoh-Dompreh shot an observer, Richard Taboh, during a chaotic altercation at the collation centre.

Addressing the media at the NPP office in Nsawam on Wednesday, December 11, Annoh-Dompreh dismissed the allegations as baseless. He called on the Ghana Police Service to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident.

“That allegation is false. It’s totally false. I never showed a gun. I am a confident person. I went into the hall to face them. Even though they were holding knives and all that. I came there and nobody could touch me and it’s the cowardice of them.”

He further stated, “It was when I was departing the ball, that was when they started throwing, stones and missiles at me. I want to invite the leadership of the Ghana Police Service to conduct an investigation, thorough investigation into this matter because I am totally innocent and I would want to advise the young man, Sammy Gyamfi, who is a young man growing up, he should get mature. Politics is not just about getting microphones and come and hell out and put out allegations.”

Annoh-Dompreh emphasised that politics should be about leadership and patriotism, not making baseless allegations. ”

Politics is about leadership, patriotism, and leading your country and if you come out and put out allegations first, it doesn’t mean what you are saying is right. So Sammy Gyamfi should get matured. I am praying that he will be appointed as a minister, and I know I’m going to be declared as the winner of the seat,” he said.
