The Network for Women’s Rights in Ghana (NETRIGHT), Women’s Manifesto Coalition (WMC) and the DV Coalition have called on the President-Elect, John Dramani Mahama to ensure that the Vice President’s office is provided with the necessary support and resources to facilitate its effective functioning.

This follows the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s victory in the just-ended presidential elections.

In a presser released on Tuesday, December 10, the groups congratulated the Vice President-Elect, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

“We are proud of you for breaking the glass ceiling to become the 1st female Vice President of the Republic of Ghana. Your boldness and determination are exceptional and a good example for emulation. Attaining the 2nd highest position in the country is a game changer for Ghanaian women,” it stated

They applauded the NDC for pioneering the move for a woman to occupy the 2nd highest position in Ghana emphasising the need to empower the Vice President’s office to ensure its effectiveness.

The group also appealed to the next government to ensure the effective implementation of the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act 2024. CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO PROF JANE NAANA OPOKU AGYEMANG Channel1 News Women groups urge Mahama to empower Vice President's office
