The Electoral Commission (EC) has put on hold the collation of the Suhum Constituency parliamentary results, which was ongoing at the Koforidua Senior High Technical School in the New Juaben South Constituency.
This follows an alleged directive from the EC chairperson to suspend all collation across the country.
Security personnel stationed at the center have since escorted the pink sheets, which have been under contention in the Suhum Constituency, to the police armory for safekeeping.
The Eastern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Tony Osei Agyei, made this known in an interview with Channel One News and provided updates on the Nsawam Adoagyiri and Akwatia Constituencies, which are also under contention.
“I think because of misunderstanding on the part of the parties and the rules set to do the re-collation, the EC had a call that the exercise should be suspended pending another day that they will give, then the parties will come for the re-collation. So, till now we don’t know when they will call them back for the re-collation.
“For the Akwatia, I know they have scheduled the day for the other constituencies, so if it happens to be a conclusion on Suhum, Akwatia will follow suit. But once Suhum has been postponed, I don’t know whether Akwatia will also be postponed. So, we are waiting for a directive from the EC,” he stated.
