Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has charged members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to relegate personal ambitions and prioritise the success of the John Mahama-led administration.
Mahama secured a massive victory in the general election held on Saturday, December 9, marking a significant comeback to the presidency.
Mahama secured a significant victory with 6,328,397 votes representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast, defeating his primary rival, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,657,304 votes representing 41.61%
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Channel One News, Ablakwa emphasised the need for Mahama to successfully fulfil all his manifesto promises.
He explained that the success of the incoming administration would guarantee the party’s victory in subsequent elections. He called on the party to support the president-elect with competence and integrity.
“Everybody in the NDC must recognise that if we do not support President Mahama to succeed, their 2028 ambitions, 2032 ambitions, and 2036 ambitions will be a disaster and cannot materialise. At this point, we must all forget about personal ambitions and think about how to support President Mahama to succeed. How to ensure all his manifesto promises are fulfilled.
“Our focus must be supporting President Mahama with integrity, competence and hard work. We must break our backs to make sure the Mahama- Opoku-Agyemang presidency succeeds,” he stated.
