Calm has been restored at the headquarters of Metro Mass Transit Limited after a group of individuals, reportedly supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), forced their way into the premises.
According to security officials, approximately 35 individuals arrived at the headquarters, allegedly to “safeguard” the company’s property after receiving information suggesting looting had begun following the NPP’s electoral defeat.
The incident came in the wake of reports of theft at the Ayawaso East NADMO office, where significant property was stolen.
Police quickly intervened at the Metro Mass headquarters, de-escalating tensions. The 35 individuals left the premises, and operations at the headquarters have since resumed without disruption.
Earlier on Sunday, December 8, the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly was ransacked and looted by individuals reportedly identifying themselves as Maamobi residents.
The assailants made away with items including three concrete mixers, two air conditioners, four motorbikes, two tricycles, laptops, computers, wheelbarrows, and other equipment. However, reports indicate that three of the stolen concrete mixers have been recovered.
Authorities have urged calm and assured the public of continued security measures to prevent further incidents.
