The Ghana Police Service has so far arrested 89 persons of which 40 are directly connected to incidents of vandalism, looting and destruction of properties.

In a media briefing on Monday, December 9, the Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Police Service, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi explained that measures have been put in place to ensure that perpetrators of violence are brought to book.

“We would like to caution the public to desist from such acts of violence since the perpetrators will be arrested and taken through the due process of the law,” part of the statement read.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi outlined three key measures by the National Election Security Taskforce to curb post-election violence: enhanced visibility through patrols, intelligence-led operations to apprehend identified perpetrators, and static security at state facilities.

Additionally, the task force is engaging with government officials and stakeholders to address specific concerns.
