Supporters, officials, and key figures of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are engaging in nationwide celebrations following the re-election of John Dramani Mahama.
Among those present were the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, Campaign Director Professor Joshua Alabi, former National Chairman Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, and several others.
Clad in party colors, the supporters are seen dancing and blowing vuvuzelas, showcasing their joy. Some individuals have been spotted celebrating outside Mahama’s residence in Cantonments.
This jubilant occasion follows the official announcement of the 2024 presidential election results by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, on December 9.
Mahama received 6,328,397 votes, accounting for 56.55% of the total, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.6%.
Scenes from the residence of the President-elect depict a celebratory ambience among his extended family, all adorned in white attire. Mahama’s victory signifies a significant achievement for his political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has attained a majority in Parliament.
The NDC has already verified over 160 seats, including key constituencies that have traditionally been under the control of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). This success enhances Mahama’s position of power as he prepares to regain the presidency.
