In a statement that underscores the gravity of the task ahead, Vice President-Elect Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called for unity and dedication as the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration prepares to take office.

Speaking to supporters after the declaration of results by the Electoral Commission (EC), in Accra on Monday December 9, 2024, she emphasised the need for collective effort and commitment to move the nation forward.

The EC officially declared John Dramani Mahama as the President-elect following the 2024 general elections in Accra on Monday.  Mahama secured a decisive victory with 6,328,397 votes representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast, defeating his primary rival, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,657,304 votes representing 41.61%, marking a significant comeback to the presidency after his previous term ended in 2017.

Opoku-Agyemang declared “The fun is over, the work is about to begin and as we journey together, we have to move forward also together.”

Her remarks come at a pivotal moment as the newly elected government gears up to address the challenges facing the country. The Vice President-Elect’s call for unity and hard work resonates with the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises and fostering national development.
