The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region is demanding the immediate arrest of the Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh following a shooting incident at the district collation centre on Sunday, December 9.
Richard Taboh an observer according to the NDC was allegedly shot by Mr Annoh-Dompreh in the full glare of the public at the collation centre when a scuffle broke between supporters of the NDC and the NPP leading to the defacing of about 100 pink sheets.
Addressing the press at the regional party office in Koforidua after an engagement with the Electoral Commission over the contention surronding the Nsawam Adoagyiri, Suhum, Akwatia and Fanteakwa North parliamentary results, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC Dr Mark Oliver Kevor accused EC’s Bossman Asare of instructing his officers to put the declaration of Nsawam Adoagyiri on hold.
He called on the Inspector General of Police to immediately cause the arrest of Annoh-Dompreh.
“At the EC collation centre, the EC director informs us that collation had almost been concluded with the NDC leading, reflecting the results that we had. Then, the sitting member of parliament Frank Annoh-Dompreh who saw that he had lost engineered confusion and violence at the collation centre including shooting one observer Taboh Richard.
“The matter has been reported to the police, yet no arrest has been made, and no invitation has been offered to the MP to respond because he was seen by witnesses and observers personally shooting Taboh Richard. We are urging the IGP to immediately direct his men on the ground to arrest Mr Frank Annoh Dompreh for shooting one Taboh Richard who is currently hospitalised,” he stated.
