Ebi Bright of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been declared the winner of the Tema Central Parliamentary contest.

Bright secured a total of 18,539 votes, narrowly defeating her opponent, Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 18,421 votes.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Bright and the NDC, as they successfully unseat the NPP in this key constituency. The election saw a high voter turnout, with constituents eager to make their voices heard in this pivotal race.

Bright has been contesting the seat since 2016.

However, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Tema Central Charles Forson has rejected the results, describing the declaration process as illegal.

Charles Forson insists that John Nunoo of the Electoral Commission who declared Ebi Bright of the NDC winner of the parliamentary seat is the returning officer for Tema West and not Tema Central.

He has therefore vowed to pursue the matter to its legal conclusion.

Meanwhile, the results of Nsawam Adoagyiri, Akwatia, Suhum, Ahafo-Ano North, Ablekuma North and Techiman South constituencies are yet to be declared.
