Akufo-Addo congratulates Mahama, invites him to Jubilee House

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama following his decisive victory in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election.

The gesture came shortly after the official declaration of results by the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, 2024.

During a phone call with the President-elect, President Akufo-Addo pledged his full commitment to facilitating a smooth transfer of power on January 7, 2025. He assured Mahama of his readiness to work collaboratively to ensure a successful transition process.

President Akufo-Addo lauded the Electoral Commission, the Ghanaian people, and all key stakeholders for their role in conducting a peaceful and credible election. He described the process as a testament to Ghana’s enduring democratic values and adherence to the rule of law.

As part of the transition process, the President has invited the President-elect to Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. The meeting aims to kick-start formal discussions on the transition and ensure a seamless handover of governance.

President Akufo-Addo also called on all Ghanaians to come together in unity, emphasizing the importance of consolidating democracy and fostering national development. He reaffirmed his dedication to good governance and peaceful transitions, which have cemented Ghana’s reputation as a leader in African democracy.

Further to this evening’s official declaration by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, of the results of the 2024 Presidential Election, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to congratulate him on his decisive victory in the just-ended presidential election.

President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on 7th January 2025, and looks forward to working with the President-elect and his team to realise this goal.

The President also congratulates the Electoral Commission and the Ghanaian people for a successful election that reflects the enduring strength of Ghana’s democracy.

He acknowledges the commitment and participation of all stakeholders, which have ensured that the democratic process in Ghana remains credible and peaceful.

President Akufo-Addo calls on all Ghanaians to unite and work together to consolidate democracy and the rule of law in our country.

In the spirit of collaboration, the President has invited the President-elect for a meeting on Wednesday, 11th December 2024, at Jubilee House to initiate the transition process.
