Tension flared at the Ledzokuku collation centre during the ongoing 2024 general elections as a gunshot was reportedly fired by individuals dressed in military uniforms.

The incident, which occurred late in the evening of December 7, caused panic among party agents, election officials, and observers at the scene.

Channel One TV‘s Akosua Ochtere reported that the altercation occurred between supporters believed to belong to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the military.

The supporters were, according to the report, asking the military to leave the collation centre. The premises are already under protection by the Ghana Police Service.

The clash between the military, reportedly involving around 15 personnel, and the supporters allegedly resulted in the firing of gunshots.

The also report noted that branded military vehicles were granted access to the collation area but were barred by the police from entering the main centre where the collation process is being conducted.
