Security officers stationed at the Mt. Olivet Methodist Church clashed with voters on Saturday evening at the collation centre in the Ablekuma West constituency. The altercation occurred after voters without accreditation were denied entry into the centre.

The confrontation escalated, leading to the collapse of a woman at the scene.

According to Channel One News’ Rachel Engmann, the centre is designated exclusively for party agents, Electoral Commission (EC) officials, and accredited individuals. However, some voters attempted to force their way in, prompting the security officers to intervene.

In the chaos, polling agents and EC officers resorted to throwing ballot boxes and election materials over the gate to prevent them from being compromised as tensions heightened.

No official statement has been issued yet, but the incident caused a temporary disruption to collation activities in the constituency.
