#GhanaPolls2024: One dead, two injured in Nyankpala shooting incident

Tragedy has struck Nyankpala in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region, during the 2024 general elections, as one person has lost his life with two others sustaining injuries in an election-related incident.

The details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but the shooting led to the death of one person who is believed to be a voter.

Security personnel according to Channel One TV’s Shawarna Yusif,  were quickly dispatched to restore calm and secure the area.

However, one of the victims who sustained injuries was in a branded T-shirt of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested four persons, namely, Majid Issah, Fodi Issiage Kamara, Yakubu Simalia and Alhaji Bashiru Mohamed, in connection with the shooting incident.

The Police in a brief statement indicated that the injured victim is currently receiving medical care, while the body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Police added that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting the Police investigation.
