The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama paid homage to his father’s grave in Bole-Bamboi before heading to his polling station to exercise his franchise.
Addressing the media, the NDC flagbearer explained that his visit was to offer prayers and seek strength from his ancestors.
He emphasised that his visit mirrors his cultural traditions and values.
According to Mr Mahama, customs demand that one seek solace from ancestors in seasons of doubts and anxieties.
He expressed the need to conserve one’s culture highlighting that his homage to his father’s grave was a personal ritual.
“When faced with anxious moments, it is customary and meaningful to seek strength and direction from our ancestors through prayer. “This is part of our culture”, he stated.
Mahama added that his visit was a way of honouring his family’s legacy. He then proceeded to his polling station within the Bole-Bamboi Constituency to cast his vote.
