The Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a stern warning to its officials, stressing that any compromise of the electoral process will result in strict disciplinary actions.
The warning follows the arrest of an EC official in Kintampo South, Bono East Region, for alleged electoral malpractice during the ongoing 2024 general elections.
The suspect, identified as Dery Joseph, is under investigation for reportedly issuing 15 ballot papers that omitted the first presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at the Ampesika Bayere polling station.
In an update, the EC assured the public of its commitment to a transparent and credible election.
“We call on all officials that the commission will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the right thing is done at all levels and that any official who compromises himself or herself will be dealt with according to the full rigours of the law and so, they must all take note and continue,” Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Benjamin Bano-Bio stated.
