An official of the Electoral Commission in Kintampo South in the Bono East region has been arrested by the police for electoral offences in the ongoing 2024 general election.
The suspect, whose name is given as Dery Joseph, according to the police, is under investigation for issuing about 15 ballots to voters that omitted the first presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, at the Ampesika Bayere polling station.
Additionally, one person has been arrested at the St. Theresa’s School polling station after verbally attacking an official of the Electoral Commission in the early hours of December 7, before voting commenced at Center 2 in the Okaikwei South Constituency
Following a tip-off after the altercation, it was discovered that the individual, an NDC party agent, was allegedly carrying a pistol.
The police have arrested the individual and transported him to the Kaneshie Police Station.
