The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has acknowledged initial challenges during the start of the 2024 general elections but commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for swiftly addressing them.
At a press conference on December 7, 2024, CODEO Co-Chairman, Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe, highlighted delays in the delivery of sensitive materials, which led to the late opening of some polling stations.
He, however, praised the EC’s prompt intervention, which ensured that voting operations quickly resumed in the affected areas.
“CODEO notes some of the initial challenges that characterised the opening of polls at some polling stations, including the late opening of some polling stations due to the late delivery of certain sensitive materials.
“CODEO, however, acknowledges the EC’s swift resolution of most of these challenges, which have enabled voting to take place in a normal fashion. CODEO urges the public to remain calm and exercise their right to vote if they have not already done so,” he stated.
