The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Afadzato South has expressed grave concerns over the conduct of the District Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Afadzato South.
The officer was allegedly found by the police in possession of electoral materials in her private vehicle, heading to the constituency without a police escort, in total violation of the EC’s established protocols.
In a press release dated December 6, 2024, the NDC highlighted the breach of regulations by the officer, as noted in a press release from the EC signed by Mr. Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations.
The NDC stated that the officer’s actions have compromised the integrity of the electoral process.
“We cannot trust such an officer to be an impartial arbiter in such a nervy election. We therefore demand that the officer in question immediately recuse herself from participating further in the processes of the elections pending the outcome of ongoing police investigations,” the statement read.
The NDC emphasised its commitment to ensuring the will of the Afadzato people prevails on December 7th.
The party expressed gratitude to its flagbearer, John Mahama, the Parliamentary Candidate, and the party leadership for empowering them to remain vigilant until the end.
