The New Force has raised serious concerns about the Electoral Commission’s (EC) handling of polling agent accreditations for Nana Kwame Bediako across various constituencies.

According to a statement released by Charles Yomekpe, Chief Administrator of The New Force, the EC’s actions have created unnecessary confusion and threaten the integrity of the electoral process.

“Our attention has been drawn to ongoing challenges with the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the processing and approval of polling agents of Nana Kwame Bediako across constituencies. This unfortunate situation has created unnecessary confusion and threatens the integrity of the electoral process,” the statement read.

The New Force highlighted that while accreditations have been granted for some constituencies, others are being restricted, with the EC citing a shortage of accreditation cards as an excuse.

Additionally, the party has been asked to write individual letters for over 40,000 agents and, in some instances, to remove their logo from letterheads.

“We have invested in these polling agents and now that they have to be accredited to monitor the process for us, the EC is frustrating us,” Yomekpe stated.

The New Force condemned these actions as unacceptable and called on the EC to uphold transparency and fairness. They warned that continued obstructive behaviour could undermine public trust in the EC’s operations and foster unnecessary tensions in the electoral process.

“The EC must do the right thing without delay. We urge them to focus on their constitutional mandate and work to ensure a smooth and credible election process. Any further acts of obstruction will be viewed as deliberate attempts to frustrate our efforts and will be resisted accordingly by Ghanaians,” the statement added.

The New Force reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of democracy and expects the EC to uphold the same.
