The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiave Kwetey, has revealed the party’s intention to counter any potential strategies employed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) within its stronghold.
He emphasised that they are devising measures to significantly diminish the effectiveness of the NPP’s electoral tactics in the region.
During an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV‘s The Point of View, Kwetey refrained from disclosing the specific strategies they plan to implement to reduce the NPP’s electoral margins in the Ashanti region.
He asserted that the NPP’s substantial victories in the Ashanti region are not entirely organic, suggesting that they engage in various schemes to secure a large number of votes.
“There’s another dimension that I will say we keep close to our chests. NPP has done a lot of things not necessarily because it’s been greatly organic. They have done a lot of what we call election engineering, and they do a lot of that, especially in the Ashanti region. You will see that Ashanti is going to be a different picture because we’re making sure that this time around, we place serious attention to the engineering that they do, especially in Ashanti, in order to ensure we hold that to a minimum.
“We cannot completely eliminate the engineering they do, but we know we’ll be able to drastically deal with that. The battle is going to be in the Ashanti region. The numbers in the Ashanti region will significantly show that. Going forward, we don’t intend to just be for this election, we want it to become a constant feature, in Ashanti, we become more competitive,” he stated.
