With only two days to the December polls, scores of traders within the central business district of Kumasi have thrown their support behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The traders assert that years of loyalty to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have not yielded any significant benefits for them or their businesses, hence their decision to support the NDC.

They further accuse the NPP of neglecting them despite voting massively for the party in previous elections.

The traders have expressed optimism that a new NDC government would bring development and progress, hence their resolve to support the party to victory.

Speaking at a news conference in Kumasi, the spokesperson for the traders, Akosua Pokua emphasised that they are ready to vote massively for the NDC come December 7.

“We cannot continue to side with the NPP. The NDC has proven to be the only party interested in the development of our region. We have never voted for the NDC but the infrastructure development they have brought to the Ashanti Region is unprecedented hence we will be voting for John Dramani Mahama as the next president of Ghana in this year’s election. We are all traders who earn a living from this, so we need a government who is ready to support us.

“Our mother, Samira Bawumia was in town three days ago and now her husband, Bawumia is also coming because they know that will influence us to vote for them. We are changing our voting patterns in this election. We want them to understand that, we will vote for the party that will develop our markets, and that party is the NDC,” she said.
