Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has urged candidates in the upcoming elections to accept the outcome of the polls.
Goodluck Jonathan is leading the West African Elders Forum, a team of former presidents of West African States and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission to Ghana to help resolve conflicts should any arise during the December 7 elections.
During a meeting with the National Election Security Taskforce on Thursday, December 5, the former Nigerian president charged Ghana to deliver a credible election.
“We want an election that will be peaceful, transparent and credible so that all the stakeholders will be happy. I want to plead with our colleagues who are politicians. Of course, for an election, only one person will win.
“So, whenever you are going to an election, you should be ready to lose or to win. Some people feel they must win and if they don’t, then heaven should come down. No, heaven should not come down. We are all mortals and we will all pass away.
“It is only the country that will stay so we should all do positive things to not bring crisis into our country”, he stated.
