The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Effia, Isaac Yaw Boamah Nyarko has praised the Electoral Commission (EC) for a hitch-free special voting exercise and predicted a 70% win of the Effia Seat for the NPP.
Speaking to Channel One News during his inspection of the special voting at the Christ the King Catholic Parish in Effia said the high turnout and smooth organisation of the special voting gives him hope of winning the Effia seat.
He added that all parliamentary candidates are committed to ensuring peace in the electioneering period despite the few numbers of flashpoints within the constituency.
“We expect that we have not less than 85% voter turnout based on the analysis that we have done. So far so good, my discussions with the EC officials suggest that it’s been very quiet and peaceful. Security is also around. It’s been very peaceful according to them. Everybody has comported themselves so well. I have high expectations that it continues like this as we go into the main elections come Saturday.
“We are not only retaining, we are winning by a very big margin. We won by 58% in the last elections. My target for the people of Effia and my team is to hit not less than 70%. We are winning heavily for both Dr Bawumia and myself as the member of parliament for the Effia constituency.
“We hope and pray that we have a peaceful election. Effia has been predominantly very peaceful. We have had about seven to 10 areas which are flashpoints, but we have discussed these issues with the police and my colleagues on the other side.
“We are all committed to ensuring that none of these incidents happen come Saturday. It is about the people exercising their franchise so there is no need for us to cause confusion and mayhem,” he stated.
