KTU holds 21st congregation, urges graduands to refrain from electoral violence

The Vice Chancellor of the Koforidua Technical University (KTU), Prof John Owusu has admonished graduands of the institution not to allow themselves to be used by any politician to foment troubles in the upcoming December 7 elections.

He also cautioned them to eschew arrogance and indiscipline at workplaces having attained an important height in their educational journey.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that success was not only about certificates and qualifications, stating that success calls for perseverance, hard work, and self-discipline among other virtues.

Prof Owusu made the disclosure during the 21st Congregation of KTU held on the school campus in Koforidua in the Eastern region.

“As a university, we are very proud of the feet you have achieved so far but as you go home, please do not allow yourselves to be used by selfish politicians who are only seeking their selfish interests. Do not be available for unnecessary things and try to make a meaningful life for yourselves.”

On his part, the guest of honour for the ceremony also the former Rector of KTU Dr George Afrane touching on the theme, “The Future of Science and Technology: The Role of Stakeholders,” expressed deep concerns about unemployment in Ghana and Africa, revealing that the panacea to Ghana’s unemployment rate was through heavy investment in agriculture which will make it attractive to the youth.

The Chancellor of KTU, Dr Kwesi Eduafo Yankey assured parents and guardians of the university’s commitment to providing the students with a world-class education that prepares them for the challenges of the 21st century.

He urged the graduates to hold on to the values of innovation, integrity and impact that have guided the university’s mission.
