The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has expressed confidence that Ghanaians are ready for change in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking with conviction, he stated that the NDC is poised to secure victory, buoyed by the positive feedback and support they are receiving from the public.
During an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View, Mr. Kwetey underscored the party’s optimism about its chances in the elections but cautioned against complacency.
He stressed that the NDC remains focused and vigilant as it works to galvanize support across the country.
Mr. Kwetey also criticized the Akufo-Addo administration, citing widespread economic hardship and escalating unemployment as key issues that have left many Ghanaians disillusioned.
“Lots of work has gone on, the energy of positivity, and what it is we feel coming from the people of Ghana, gives us room to believe that Ghana is poised for change… 2024 is a different ball game, the country has had the opportunity to view the NPP in 8 years. They have had the opportunity to see the massive resources that have been available to the government in 8 years, in a way to compare what the situation was economically and what it is today.
“What the reality is regarding so many vital things that are happening-unemployment, the suffering of the people, the developments that have been achieved and all that.
“We believe relatively, compared to 2020, this election is one that our chances are better. The mood of the country also speaks to change. But of course, you don’t take anything for granted, we go in with the expectation that things will be well. But you basically have to keep your eye open until you cross the line, but we’re very positive.”
He acknowledged that the 2020 election was more challenging in comparison to the 2024 election.
