The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Weija Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib has expressed confidence in securing a win in the December 7 parliamentary elections.

He aims to build on the party’s 14,000-vote margin from the 2020 elections and further increase the lead.

In the 2020 elections, an outgoing Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija Gbawe, Tina Naa Ayele Mensah, beat off competition from the NDC’s Cleyland Nii Ayaa Ayison winning the seat with a margin of 14,000.

Shaib said he will not be carried away by the 14,000 margin the outgoing MP won with but working to ensure that he further widens the margin for overwhelming victory.

“I am very confident, but I am not complacent. We are praying and hoping that God is going to give us victory and that the people of Weija Gbawe are going to impose confidence in us by voting for myself and my presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.”

“In this constituency, everybody poses as a threat…Everyone is. So, because everyone is, you need to go into the election with all efforts that you have and that is what I have done over the period. I didn’t come in as someone who thinks that this constituency is an NPP seat. I have come in as someone who owes about 14,000 deficit and I intend to clear it and go beyond that,” he stated.
