Courage Nobi, the Deputy Director of Policy for the Movement for Change has dismissed concerns over reports that over 500 members of the group, who were formerly supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have pledged allegiance to the NPP’s presidential candidate ahead of Saturday’s elections.
The purported defectors reportedly justified their decision by citing concerns about the Movement for Change’s lack of capacity and resources to secure a victory in the upcoming polls.
However, speaking on Citi FM‘s Eyewitness News on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Nobi labelled the reports as a calculated move by the ruling NPP to divert attention and create a false narrative.
Nobi stated that the individuals involved are not known to the movement.
“There is no course for worry about the movement for change. We have since January known and anticipated some of these antics by the ruling party to try to create a narrative that does not reflect the realities on the ground. We don’t know any such Ohene Appiah. They are not part of our officials in the region, they are not part of the officials we use at the local level.
“So, NPP people should feel free and go about with their business with their NPP people and to stop this uncuffed conduct of trying to craft a narrative out of nothing or based on falsehood,” he stated.
