All 33 constituencies in the Eastern Region have taken delivery of ballot papers for the Special Voting exercise scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024.
The materials arrived at the police armoury in Koforidua Galloway in the morning on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, and were distributed to all 33 constituencies just a day after the recalled ballots were destroyed.
The Afram Plains North and South Constituencies took delivery of their materials on Tuesday, December 3, after they were instructed to proceed to the EC head office in Accra for their materials.
The new ballot papers, which came along with supplementary Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs), were inspected and sealed by representatives of political parties and independent candidates.
These materials were then transported under tight security to their respective constituencies.
About 12,000 voters made up of securing personnel, media, EC staff and others who will play major roles on December 7 are expected to participate in the Special Voting exercise on Thursday, December 5, in all 33 constituencies.
The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress NDC in the Eastern Region Alhaji Sidi Bello expressed satisfaction with the EC’s timely distribution in an interview with the media.
“All the ballot papers for the special voting have arrived. We got them this morning at exactly 7:45 am and we have distributed them to our offices. Our officers were here. So, all the 33 constituencies have gotten their ballot papers for the special voting and tomorrow, the election will come on,” he stated.
