Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a distinguished statesman and founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made an impassioned plea to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other key stakeholders to ensure peace, fairness, and transparency in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

In a press statement, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe emphasised the pivotal role of leadership in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

He urged President Akufo-Addo to draw inspiration from his own leadership during the 2016 and 2020 elections, which showcased Ghana’s ability to navigate the often-turbulent waters of political competition without violence.

“To President Nana Akufo-Addo, who has twice witnessed the peaceful transfer of power, I remind you of the precedents set in 2016 and 2020. These moments reflected the strength of our democracy and the respect for the will of the people.

“You must now demonstrate that same commitment to peace and fairness, ensuring that the Electoral Commission and all state institutions act in ways that uphold the trust and confidence of the citizenry,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe said.

He also extended his appeal to the clergy, traditional leaders, and members of the Council of State, urging them to actively promote peace and fairness.

He highlighted their unique position as moral compasses within Ghanaian society and called on these respected leaders to remind political actors of their duty to prioritise the Ghana’s unity and prosperity over individual or partisan ambitions.

“To the clergy, chiefs, and members of the Council of State, I challenge you to rise above the silence that has too often defined your stance in moments of national crisis. Your voices, revered and respected across the land, must echo the call for peace and accountability. Your influence should not be wielded in favor of political interests but in the interest of the nation’s stability and progress,” he said.
