The vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of being a ‘sakawa’ government.
Speaking to student nurses at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Nursing and Midwifery Training School, Dr. Opoku Prempeh claimed that internet fraud, or ‘sakawa,’ had significantly decreased under the current administration.
He warned that voting the NDC back into power would lead to a resurgence of such activities, urging the nursing trainees to reject the NDC at the polls.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also reassured the trainees of his commitment to maintaining their allowances and offering opportunities for them to work abroad, including in Canada.
“All they know is Sakawa. It is only when NDC is in power that ‘Sakawa’ resurges. When you make a mistake by voting for the NDC they will bring ‘sakawa’. We have 5 days more to go to the polls and everyone is going to vote for Dr Bawumia and the NPP.
“In the new NPP manifesto, we have said two things. We said we would continue with the payment of the allowances. We will also start exporting nurses and teachers.
“So if we can’t get a place for you to work, we will put you together and export you to Canada”, he stated.
