The Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the Special Voting exercise today, December 2, in 14 regions across Ghana.

This exercise allows security personnel, media practitioners, and election officials who will be engaged on December 7 to cast their votes in advance.

However, the Eastern and Western Regions have been excluded from today’s process. The EC rescheduled Special Voting in these regions to Thursday, December 5, following the recall and reprinting of ballot papers due to a breach of security seals.

Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the EC, reassured the public that today’s exercise will proceed smoothly and credibly in the 14 regions. She emphasized the Commission’s commitment to resolving all concerns to maintain the integrity of the elections.

Eligible voters participating in the Special Voting have been reminded to follow the EC’s guidelines, including presenting valid identification at polling centres. Voting is expected to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Security has been heightened at polling centres, with the National Election Security Taskforce ensuring a peaceful and orderly process.

Political parties have deployed agents to monitor proceedings, while observers from various organizations are also present to ensure transparency.

The EC has appealed to stakeholders for cooperation and calm, reiterating its dedication to delivering a free, fair, and credible election.
