A temporary Electoral Commission (EC) officer, identified as Gerti Justice, was arrested in Bimbilla during the Special Voting exercise after he allegedly took a picture of his ballot.

Party agents raised the issue, prompting his arrest by the police. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the officer to face the law for the violation.

The parliamentary candidate for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) stated that the suspect admitted to the police, and it was agreed that his name would be removed from the list of EC officers for the day.

Upon interrogation, he admitted to taking the photo.

Subsequent discussions between the party agents and the police reportedly resulted in an agreement to release the individual for the sake of peace. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) later informed Channel One that they did not consent to his release and insisted that the law should take its course.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) declined to comment on the incident.

In a separate incident, an altercation occurred between Abdul Rauf Abugri Mumuni, the independent parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, and a voter. Mumuni accused the voter of allegedly photographing his ballot paper.

There was also another incident of a voter caught capturing his ballot paper after voting.
