The National Election Security Taskforce has called on security personnel to participate in the Special Voting exercise taking place on Monday, December 2.
The task force through a press statement released on Sunday, December 1, admonished its members to come out in their numbers to vote.
Following the EC’s recall of Ballot Papers in Western and Eastern Regions, the security task force noted that those who vote in the affected regions will be allowed to exercise their franchise once a new date is set.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has taken swift action to recall ballot papers meant for the Eastern and Western Regions after National Security flagged an issue involving a defaced ballot paper.
The paper, originally marked for destruction, was reportedly discovered at the Checkpoint Printing House, the designated printing facility.
Special voting, initially planned for Monday, December 2, has been postponed to Thursday, December 5, for these two regions. This change allows time for the reprinting and secure redistribution of the affected ballot papers.
During an emergency press briefing on Sunday, December 1, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa outlined that enhanced security protocols have been put in place to prevent similar incidents. She added a strong commitment to maintaining transparency and ensuring the credibility of the electoral process.
