The Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into an incident involving the convoy of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, which took place on Friday, November 29, 2024.
In a statement released on Saturday, November 30, the police reported that initial findings suggest the incident occurred on the Akosombo-Accra Highway in the Eastern Region, specifically between Akuse and Kpong, where a dispatch rider travelling in the opposite direction allegedly hurled an object at the windscreen of a vehicle in the convoy, resulting in damage.
The police have guaranteed a comprehensive investigation into the issue, reiterating their dedication to safeguarding the well-being of all individuals before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.
“A preliminary report indicates that the incident occurred between Akuse and Kpong, along the Akosombo-Accra Highway in the Eastern Region, when a dispatch rider from the opposite direction allegedly threw an object at the windscreen of a vehicle in the running mate’s convoy, causing damage to the windscreen.”
