As part of the government’s effort to make Ghana the preferred destination for the Christmas season and also promote tourism, it has waived its pre-approval visa requirement for travellers visiting between December 1, 2024, and January 15, 2025.
Visitors can now enjoy hassle-free Visas on Arrival, a significant step under the “Beyond the Return” initiative to boost international travel to the country.
The announcement is part of the “December in GH” campaign, designed to showcase Ghana’s rich culture, vibrant festivals, and exciting events during the festive season.
The initiative is expected to attract a surge of tourists eager to experience the country’s unique blend of heritage and hospitality.
The Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, directed airlines to promptly update their systems to reflect the new policy, ensuring seamless travel for visitors.
Akwasi Agyeman, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, urged travellers to take full advantage of this opportunity.
“We invite everyone to come and immerse themselves in the magic of ‘December in GH’ celebrations. It’s a chance to experience the best of Ghana,” he said.
