President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to ensure a peaceful and orderly election on December 7, emphasizing the need to safeguard the nation’s democratic legacy.

The President made this appeal during a Thanksgiving service at the Anglican Cathedral in Accra, which marked the start of his three-day campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region.

The tour aims to rally support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the December 7 elections.

Addressing the congregation, President Akufo-Addo urged all stakeholders and citizens to protect Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.

As part of his tour, the President is scheduled to engage with traditional leaders in the Ga State and hold meetings with party supporters. He is expected to highlight Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities and vision as the best choice to lead Ghana into a prosperous future.

“Across the world, when people speak about Africa and Democracy, the country that they refer to is the country which is the Beacon of Democratic Governance in our continent, they talk about Ghana.

“On Saturday, we are going to get another opportunity, the ninth successive opportunity we have to demonstrate to the world that indeed we understand what democratic government is about. Every few years the people are allowed to decide who will rule and govern them in their name.

“That is going to happen this Saturday. I am appealing to all of you. The Electoral Commission, the security services and the government have all arranged to make sure that everything goes peacefully and properly.

“I am pleading to you to make sure that whatever happens this Saturday is indeed peaceful, free and fair. So that at the end of the day on Saturday, all of us will agree that X, you know my X, X is the one we have all agreed should be our next president”, he stated.
