The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to make the Afram Plains South a food basket if elected in the December polls.

Campaigning in the constituency, Dr. Bawumia noted he would leverage the vast land and availability of water to make his promise a reality.

Dr. Bawumia and his team on Thursday visited the Afram Plains enclave which is an NDC-controlled area for the campaign.

The NPP flagbearer was received by enthusiastic party supporters who cheered on as the ferry docked at Afram Plains South.

During a stakeholder engagement, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the resources in the area and promised to make it a bread basket.

“We are going to help farmers. Afram Plains has vast land and water. We can thus make this place a bread basket. Some of the things we will do is to construct irrigation facilities.”

He also outlined intentions to construct some key roads to help with the transport of food produced,

“After growing the crops, it is important to transport same. We will thus construct a critical road from Ekye to Agordeke.”

Meanwhile, Krontihene Forifori of Afram Plains South, Nana Krobea Asante, urged residents to vote for the NPP for development.

“This election we have to think about the development of our community. I want to urge parents to think of the future of their wards and vote for the NPP for development.”
